Reef-Conscious Sunscreen
WAWAI'S REEF-CONSCIOUS SUNSCREEN
Lightweight + water resistant + grease-free
SPF30
INGREDIENTS
Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Zinc Nano Oxide, Beeswax
The product's active ingredient is zinc oxide— the only FDA-approved ingredient that provides broad spectrum protection against UVB, UVA2, and UVA1. Unlike other sunscreens that claim to be "reef safe," this sunscreen is water resistant, and does not contain any additives, synthetic fragrances, or colouring. And the best part? Where most other reef-conscious brands come in plastic bottles, this sunscreen comes in a reusable and/or recyclable tin.
Free of oxybenzone, octinoxate, synthetic dyes, and synthetic fragrances.
Our mission has always been to test what's out there, and find what works and what doesn't, so we can be a one-stop resource for tools and alternatives that actually work. We only carry products we ourselves use.
One order is inclusive of one can of Wawai's Organics Ph Sunscreen. Please see product and shipping information in the tabs below.

Ocean pollution is not always just plastic. Most sunscreens contain chemicals such as oxybenzone and octinoxate, (among other things,) which are known or strongly suspected to cause endocrine disruption and other damage to marine wildlife (i.e. corals, fish, and invertebrates). Studies have found that these cause bleaching, deformities, DNA damage as well as death in coral when they're washed off beachgoers or discharged by wastewater treatment plants into bodies of water.
While it's important that we protect ourselves from the sun, we should not do it at the expense of our coral reefs. Wear protective clothing and choose a sunscreen that does not contain harmful chemicals, even if you're only going to be using it in the city. Always remember that all drains lead out to the sea.
Wawai's Organics Physical Sunscreen:
- wide spectrum
- no animal testing
- no oxybenzone
- no octinoxate
- no synthetic dyes
- no synthetic fragrances
- no plastic packaging
- handcrafted
- product of the Philippines
TO USE:
Use the same way you would properly use any and all sunscreens— smooth over face and/or body and allow to dry at least 30 minutes before sun exposure to allow the ingredients to fully bind to the skin. Reapply every two hours, or immediately after swimming or sweating.
This sunscreen can be used daily and worn under makeup. It has hydrating properties, and can be applied in place of a moisturizer. If you have dry skin and intend on still wearing moisturizer with your sunscreen, apply the moisturizer first, and the sunscreen afterward for better sun protection.
