Bokashi Bran | 1 kilo
BOKASHI BRAN 1 KILO
Bokashi is a means to process organic waste into nutrient-rich soil. Bokashi bran is rice bran inoculated with microbes that break down organic waste. It is used in tandem with a Bokashi bucket to ferment kitchen scraps, for faster composting.
Our bran isn't homemade. Unlike most Bokashi products available in the market, you will only need 1 - 2 teaspoons of our bran for every kilo of food waste you produce. Our bran is manufactured in Ilocos by Harbest Agribusiness Corporation. We are an official distributor of theirs.
One order is inclusive of one kilo of Bokashi bran. Please see product and shipping information in the tabs below.

Bokashi bran is inoculated with microorganisms such as Lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus spp.), yeasts (Saccharomyces spp.), photosynthetic bacteria (Rhodopseudomonas spp.). These microbes break down organic waste in a controlled environment (i.e. a Bokashi bucket) through fermentation. Once fermented, kitchen scraps can easily be composted indoors without any putrid odours or pests, and in a short amount of time. Organic waste is turned into nutrient-rich loam soil within a matter of weeks.
We have written an article on how to use Bokashi to turn kitchen waste into nutrient rich soil amendments:

PACKAGING
Please expect all items to be packaged in very minimal used / recycled / secondhand paper bags or cardboard boxes. We try to minimize our carbon footprint where we can, when we can, and as much as we can, and avoid procuring new packaging materials for our products.
All single-use packaging materials, no matter how "eco-friendly," take an inordinate amount of resources (e.g. water, fuel, electricity, trees, etc.) to manufacture. This is why we prefer to solicit used paper bags and boxes via Buhay Zero Waste Preloved, an online decluttering and dumpster-diving platform that we run.Our parcels won't always look pretty, but they have a much much smaller impact on the environment than parcels that use brand new "eco-friendly" packaging materials.
